McCoy’s Crisps Recall After Plastic Found

KP Snacks Ltd are recalling certain date codes of McCoy’s multipack crisps due to possible contamination with plastic.  This just less than a week since Nestle issued a product recall on these Kit Kats and Kit Kat Chunky bars:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Hazelnut
  • Choc Fudge
  • Caramel

Which Crisps Have Been Recalled?

KP Snacks Ltd have recalled:

  • McCoy’s multi bag crisps Classic 6 pack- ready salted, salt & malt vinegar and cheddar & onion
  • McCoy’s multi bag crisps Classic 15 pack ready salted, salt & malt vinegar and cheddar & onion
  • McCoy’s Cheddar & onion 6 pack
  • McCoy’s Salt & Malt vinegar 6 pack

Are Your Crisps Affected?

If you’ve bought any of the crisps above you should check whether the best before date is 15 June 2013 (lot code 3066) which can be found on the back of the outer packaging.

Why The Recall?

Reports have been made that bits of plastic have been found in the crisps which if swallowed could cause serious problems not necessarily on the way in but during the digestive process and when it’s time to go to the toilet.

If Your Crisps Are Affected What Should You Do?

What Do The Specialists Say?

David Healey from Carter & Carter Solicitors in Stockport commented on the McCoy’s crisps recall earlier today:

“Consumers who have found plastic in their McCoy’s crisps have legal redress under the Consumer Protection Act and the Sale of Goods Act.  The potential consequences of swallowing plastic and it then being digested could be rather serious.  Anyone who has been injured or is worried that they have swallowed some plastic should get in touch as quickly as possible.”
