Saki Snacks Almonds Ground withdrawn

Saki Snacks Ltd has withdrawn certain batches of its Almonds Ground because they contain peanut protein which they have not referred to on the label. This means that the Almonds Ground is a significant risk for people suffering from nut allergies.

Which Saki Snacks Product Has Been Recalled?

Saki Snacks Ltd have recalled the following product which was supplied to shops between the 29th of January 2014 and 18th February 2014:

Product name: Saki Snacks Almonds Ground
Pack size: 200g
Batch codes: 1923 R 140129 N
‘Best before’ end: April 2015

Are Yours Affected?

If you’ve bought any of the Almonds Ground stated above you should check whether the best before date is April 2015 which should be found on the back of the outer packaging.  If it is it is likely to contact trace elements of nuts which could cause a nut allergy reaction.

Why Have Saki Snacks Made a Recall?

Reports have been made that nut traces have been included in the product but that the packaging does not mention this which poses an obvious risk to nut allergy sufferers.

What Do The Specialists Say?

David Healey from Carter & Carter Solicitors in Stockport commented on the Saki Snacks Ltd recall earlier today:

“Nut Allergy sufferers should be very careful when they check their products.  If the level of allergen is high then nut allergy sufferers could experience a serious reaction which might not be brought to an end with the Epi-Pen.  Consumers who have found plastic in their Saki Snacks Almonds Ground have legal redress under the Consumer Protection Act and the Sale of Goods Act.  Anyone who has been injured or is worried that they have swallowed some of this product despite being a nut allergy sufferer should get in touch as quickly as possible.”
