What Rehabilitation and Health Care is on offer?

Your GP is often the key person who will take charge of and primarily oversee the various types of treatment which are available through the NHS. The initial referral, for whatever specialist treatment you may require, may come from your GP and the health professionals you are referred to will report back to your GP at regular intervals to advise of your progress.

It is also usual for a case manager to be appointed by the parties involved in the litigation. Case managers are usually medically qualified so that they are able to coordinate all the health professionals so that you receive the appropriate treatment and medical assistance which you require and at the relevant time.

More often than not the Defendant’s will agree to privately funding any treatment which is reasonable and necessary as they too have an interest in you making the best possible recovery from your injuries.

Treatment will often include therapy from an Occupational Therapist who will be concerned with helping the injured person to return to every day activities. Other professionals who may also be involved are physiotherapists, psychologists, counsellors and speech language pathologists who will deal with cognitive-communication difficulties.
