One Thing Most People Get Wrong

The claim doesn’t come out of your employer’s pocket. Every employer in the UK is legally required to hold Employer’s Liability Insurance — and it’s that insurer, not your employer personally, who pays any compensation awarded.

This matters because many injured workers hold back from claiming because they don’t want to cause their employer financial difficulty, or they worry it will damage their working relationship. In practice, your employer hands the claim to their insurer and the insurer runs it from there. Your employer’s business is not at risk.

Knowing this changes the calculation for a lot of people.
